How many mistakes have I made?

I am a house designer by trade and used to be a carpenter until I finally finished collage 35 year later. I once built a house into which they installed a $15,000 Bose whole house stereo system that didn’t impress me (as in $14,000 too much), so what do you guys think of this? Don’t know what brand speakers they would be or how many, but Altec would be fine with me. The wall height is 12’ and the room is 24’ wide by 36’ deep with a loft 16' back from the window wall. There is 8 cubic feet per vertical liner foot for speaker enclosures. Since the walls and floor are wood, I suppose the ceiling will have to be carpet.

The first thing that comes to mind is John Hilliard's house.

That's a lot of speakers....... seems overkill to me, to the point of degrading the sound. I'm just guessing though, based on it reminding me of a line array that people here don't get impressed with.

The problem is going to be phase cancellation and comb filtering due to so many sources...less is more in this case...

Curious why you want speakers shooting over your head?
